Gilead Research Fellowship Program

This award is intended for junior faculty who are in the early stages of their career; specifically, the Applicant may be the recipient of a career development (K) award, or another mentored research award, but not an RO1 grant or equivalent.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:*

  • Hold an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent degree at time of award
  • Be within 7 years of a faculty appointment, as an Instructor, Assistant Professor, or equivalent, in association with an academic research institution in the United States at the time of application
  • Have a strong career interest in cystic fibrosis
  • Have a research mentor with extensive experience in the field of cystic fibrosis
  • Be able to devote at least 50% of professional time to research (versus administrative, patient care, or teaching responsibilities)
  • Be able to complete the proposed research within the 2-year award period, providing evidence (manuscript, presentation, or abstracts) for future research projects

* If the Applicant has current funding or pending applications for mentored-training funding, and/or potential overlap funding, this information should be described in detail on the downladable template. In addition, the Applicant must upload a document that provides the specific aims or abstract, as well as budget, for each item on the template.

Citizenship

An Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or hold a temporary nonimmigrant visa. This visa must be valid for the two-year award period (January 2, 2017 – December 31, 2018).
